Inger Skjelsbæk is a Professor at the Center for Interdisciplinary Gender Research (2019-present) and Research Professor II at PRIO's Center on Gender, Peace and Security (2015-present). Her work focuses on Women, Peace and Security, Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, Social Psychology, Bosnia, Transitional Justice, and Norm Theory. She has taught courses like KFL4065 – Gender, Peace and Conflict and KFL2060 – Gender Equality in the Nordic Countries at the University of Oslo.
- PhD in Social Psychology (NTNU, 2007)
- Visiting Researcher at London School of Economics and Political Science (2017-2019)
- Associate Professor at UiO's Department of Psychology (2015-2018)
Her research explores gender dynamics in conflict and peace processes, with fieldwork in Bosnia-Herzegovina. She leads the C-REX research group on gender and extremism and contributes to the UiO:Norden project on Nordic Branding. Recent articles examine researcher well-being in conflict studies, Nordic masculinity narratives, and policy contradictions in gender equality frameworks.
Scientific recognition includes the Ingrid Aue Memorial Prize (2022) and Fulbright Article Award (2018). Collaborations span institutions like UC Berkeley's Human Rights Center and University of Oslo. Teaching and editorial roles reflect her commitment to qualitative research and war child studies.
