Inger Marie Berg-Hansen is an Associate Professor at the Department of Archaeology, Conservation and History, Faculty of Humanities, University of Oslo. Her research focuses on Stone Age archaeology with emphasis on Early settlement in Northern Europe (Final Palaeolithic to Neolithic), Lithic technology, and Human-Technology relations.

Research Interests: Berg-Hansen explores how technology reflects social organization in prehistoric societies. Her work bridges Lithic analysis, landscape archaeology, and hunter-gatherer studies, with fieldwork across Norway, Latvia, and Scotland. She employs chaîne opératoire and attribute analysis to trace technological traditions and societal changes.
Recent Publications highlight cross-border technological studies in Northern Europe, including analyses of Mesolithic coastal adaptation and Neolithic mobility patterns on the Skagerrak coast. Her collaborative projects like ArCHe and Rubha Port an t-Seilich emphasize interdisciplinary approaches.
