Dr. Inge van der Valk is an Associate Professor and Head of Department at the Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences, Utrecht University. She leads the Adolescent Development research group, focusing on pedagogy and divorce-related youth psychology.
Research Interests: Her work examines parental conflict impacts on child adjustment, longitudinal divorce consequences, and preventive programs like KIDS/SCRES instruments. Key projects include Where do I belong? (multi-resident families) and WODC-commissioned studies on court procedures.
Teaching: Instructs bachelor’s and master’s courses in Pedagogics and the DaSCA research master program. Serves as chair of the Pedagogics bachelor’s examination committee.
Public Engagement: Authored 25+ media contributions on divorce’s emotional impacts, coparenting stress reduction, and child rights advocacy. Collaborates with Altra, Sterk Huis, and legal researchers on multidisciplinary interventions.
