Inese Verzemnieks

Inese Verzemnieks, PhD, RN, is a Lecturer at the UCLA School of Nursing. Her roles include project leadership in initiatives such as the Early Intervention Program for Adolescent Mothers (NINR-RO1-NR02325) and the Center for Vulnerable Populations Research (CVPR), UCLA School of Nursing (NINR P30-005041). She is also a member of the Nursing Practice and Research Council at Ronald Reagan Medical Center and holds leadership roles in Sigma Theta Tau International.

• MS in Nursing (Maternal Child Health Clinical Specialist), Boston University, 1977
• PhD in Nursing (Cognate: Developmental Psychology), University of California, Los Angeles, 1998

Research Interests: Focus on parent-child interaction, parenting issues, video feedback, and child behavior problems. Clinical expertise includes pediatric nursing, community health, and patient education.

Professional Highlights:

• Member of the Diabetes Workgroup for Healthy African American Families II in Los Angeles
• Recipient of awards including the 1989 March of Dimes Community Service Award and repeated Honorary Service Awards from the Santa Monica-Malibu PTA

Grants & Leadership: Directed major projects such as the Early Intervention Program (1993–1998) and the CVPR (2006–present). Engaged in interdisciplinary collaborations through the Healthy African American Families II initiative and the Ronald Reagan Medical Center council.

Labs/Teams: Central involvement in the Center for Vulnerable Populations Research, a hub for nursing and community health studies at UCLA.
