Dr. Indrani Mukhopadhya is a Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen's School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition. She focuses on gut microbiota's role in health and disease, host-pathogen interactions, and gut virology-immunology connections.

Her research explores how gut viruses trigger chronic inflammation in IBD, microbial signatures in gastrointestinal diseases, and therapeutic applications of gut microbes. Key projects include IBD goes viral and Next generation biotherapeutics.
Recent publications in Nature Reviews Microbiology, Beneficial Microbes, and Gut Microbes highlight her work on short-chain fatty acids, probiotics, and microbial genomics. She supervises PhD students Sam Mcvey, Albandari Alzaidi, Jamie Innes, and Melissa Matos.
