Imogen Riddell is a Dame Kathleen Ollerenshaw Fellow in the Inorganic Chemistry Group at the University of Manchester. She holds a BSc from the University of Strathclyde (2009), a PhD in supramolecular chemistry from the University of Cambridge (2013), and conducted postdoctoral research at MIT with Prof. Stephen Lippard. Her research bridges inorganic chemistry, materials science, and biochemistry, focusing on encapsulation of biomolecules and their interactions with synthetic constructs. Key projects include developing metal-organic frameworks for biomedical applications and understanding anticancer agent mechanisms.
Her work contributes to UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in advancing materials science and healthcare. Notable achievements include the 2017 Rosalind Franklin Award for Physical Sciences and Mathematics. Recent publications highlight advancements in automated synthesis workflows, pollutant encapsulation, and protein confinement within metal-organic materials. She has contributed to over 25 research outputs and 24 datasets, including crystal structure determinations for novel compounds.
