Imari Cheyne Tetu is a PhD candidate in the Department of Writing, Rhetoric, and Cultures at Michigan State University (MSU) and serves as an Instructor for Information Architecture courses. She holds an M.A. in Digital Rhetoric and Professional Writing from MSU (2022) and a B.A. in Professional and Technical Writing from Saginaw Valley State University (2020). Her research focuses on digital accessibility, learning experience design, and technical communication with an emphasis on disability in higher education.
Imari’s academic affiliations include the Evidence-Driven Learning Innovation (EDLI) Research Center, the WIDE Research Center, and professional organizations like Teach Access. She has taught courses such as Introduction to Accessibility for the Humanities and Experience Architecture, blending pedagogy with practical design principles.
Her research trends emphasize accessibility in educational technology, the integration of AI tools like ChatGPT in technical writing education, and the redesign of academic programs to prioritize inclusive practices. She actively contributes to conferences like the ACM International Conference on Design of Communication, focusing on emerging practices in accessible communication design.
Imari’s work spans academic publishing, including journal articles on blended course modalities and asynchronous workshop models for professional development. She is also a co-editor of a special issue on disability justice in writing center scholarship.
