Imad Abdallah

Imad Abdallah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), College of Engineering. He serves as the Director of the Center for Transportation Infrastructure Systems (CTIS), overseeing a $3 million budget and leading major transportation research initiatives. His work bridges advanced data modeling, artificial intelligence, and civil infrastructure systems.

Dr. Abdallah's research focuses on pavement material characterization, pavement management and evaluation, and the application of artificial intelligence and data fusion modeling in transportation systems. He has developed expert systems that integrate numerical analysis with heuristic engineering knowledge to recommend optimal pavement solutions. His work emphasizes uncertainty analysis, life-cycle performance, and non-destructive testing (NDT) data integration from technologies like GPR, FWD, and seismic methods.

His recent efforts include leading software development teams at CTIS to create online engineering tools for analysis, design, and evaluation in transportation infrastructure. These tools enhance decision-making for pavement performance and sustainability.

Dr. Abdallah has led over two dozen research projects and secured significant funding, including grants from the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). His team's achievements include placing second in a national asphalt mix design competition and receiving multiple awards for sustainable pavement and urban connectivity research.
