Assoc. Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ilya Okulov is affiliated with the University of Bremen and the Leibniz Institute for Materials Engineering IWT in Bremen, Germany. He currently holds a dual role as Associate Professor at the University of Bremen and Head of the Particles and Process Engineering Team. His professional experience includes roles such as Senior Scientist at the University of Bremen (2018–present), Visiting Assistant Professor at Tohoku University (Japan), and Associate Professor at Ural Federal University (Russia).
Dr. Okulov’s research focuses on advanced materials synthesis and processing, particularly liquid metal dealloying, additive manufacturing, and porous material design. His work explores applications in biomedical implants, energy storage, and catalysis. Key interests include high-entropy alloys, metallic glasses, and composite materials.
He has collaborated extensively across institutions, including Tohoku University, Helmholtz-Zentrum Geesthacht, and TU Dresden. His research aims to bridge fundamental materials science with industrial applications, emphasizing scalable production techniques for functional materials.
Dr. Okulov leads the Particles and Process Engineering Team at Leibniz IWT, fostering interdisciplinary projects in materials engineering. His lab specializes in innovative methods like flash annealing and powder metallurgy, addressing challenges in material durability and functional performance.
