معرفی
Ilse van de Groep is a Research Fellow at the Erasmus School of Social and Behavioural Sciences, specifically within the Clinical Psychology department at Erasmus University Rotterdam. She works in the SYNC lab where she focuses on the behavioral and neural development of antisocial behavior in young adulthood. Her research aims to develop strategies to support and motivate young adults with antisocial behavior and addiction problems to pursue their long-term goals.
Dr. van de Groep completed her Research Master in Social and Health Psychology at Utrecht University in 2016. After graduation, she worked as a research assistant at the Experimental Psychopathology lab in Utrecht before beginning her PhD project (2018-2022). She successfully defended her dissertation titled "Resisting, Desisting or Persisting? Neural Correlates of Antisocial and Psychopathic Pathways in Early Adulthood" in April 2023 under the supervision of Prof. Eveline Crone, Dr. Marieke Bos, Prof. Lucres Nauta-Jansen, and Prof. Arne Popma.
Her research interests center on finding mechanistic explanations for complex social behavior, with particular focus on the neural correlates of self-concept, vicarious reward learning, social evaluation, and aggression regulation. She examines distinct developmental trajectories of social and antisocial behavior in emerging adulthood. Dr. van de Groep is passionate about the creative aspects of research and science communication, often using her skills in blogging, workshops, and graphic design to share knowledge with wider audiences.
Analysis of her recent publications shows a strong focus on the neural mechanisms underlying antisocial behavior, particularly examining prefrontal cortex function, developmental trajectories, and self-regulation processes. Her work frequently employs neuroimaging techniques to investigate how young adults process social feedback and regulate aggressive impulses. She also explores the intersection of social media use, brain development, and mental well-being in adolescent populations.
Dr. van de Groep is currently working as a Healthy Start Fellow in the SYNC lab at Erasmus University Rotterdam. The SYNC lab appears to be her primary research environment where she conducts studies on behavioral and neural development related to antisocial behavior. Her work involves collaborations with researchers across multiple institutions, as evidenced by her co-authored publications.
