Ilse Strauss-Weisz

Ilse Strauss-Weisz serves as Lecturer in Teaching Practice & Recorder Didactics at Mozarteum University's Department of Music Education in Innsbruck, operating under the School of Music and Art Education. She combines academic instruction with active artistic practice through private lessons and ensemble leadership.

Her professional focus centers on:

• Developing innovative music education methodologies for children and youth
• Advancing recorder didactics and historical performance practices
• Creating interdisciplinary concert experiences through historical research
• Designing accessible concert formats for new audiences

Strauss-Weisz founded Ensemble Rosarum Flores to explore cross-disciplinary programming and co-initiated ConTakt, Tyrol's early music platform, where she investigates performance practice and novel concert structures over eight years of active research. She maintains significant institutional partnerships including the Tyrolean Regional Museums, Innsbruck Festival of Early Music, youth baroque orchestra Streicherey, and Innsbrucker Abendmusik concert series. As specialist group leader for recorder education at Innsbruck's municipal music school, she directly shapes contemporary teaching approaches while addressing unexpected challenges of historical instrument performance.
