Dr. Ilse Dekoeyer-Laros is an Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Utah, affiliated with the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences (CSBS). She holds a part-time role as a Child Development Specialist with Help Me Grow Utah, a parenting support initiative. Her academic journey includes a Master’s in Developmental Psychology from the Free University of Amsterdam (1991) and a PhD in Educational Psychology from Utrecht University (2001).
Her research focuses on early parent-child relationships, emotional development, and infant mental health. She has co-created the Infant Mental Health Certificate program and has been actively involved in teaching courses such as Developmental Psychology, Abnormal Child Psychology, and Research Methods. Notably, she received the 2015 Superior Teaching Award from CSBS.
Dr. Dekoeyer-Laros is a founding Board Member and Past President of the Utah Association for Infant Mental Health (UAIMH). She has delivered professional development trainings in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health and contributed to community resources through Help Me Grow Utah, offering developmental screenings and parenting support.
