Ilija Kajtez is a Serbian sociologist, philosopher, educator, and retired Colonel. He holds the academic rank of Full Professor at the Faculty of International Politics and Security, Union-Nikola Tesla University in Belgrade. His research focuses on sociological and philosophical aspects of peace, war, and military ethics, with notable contributions to the field through his monograph Mudrost i mač (translated into multiple languages). He previously taught at the Military Academy in Belgrade (1991-2015) and Faculty of Security Studies (2007-2014), serving as Chief of the Department of Social Sciences (2007-2015).
Education: B.A. in Philosophy and Sociology from the University of Zadar (1986-1990), M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Sociology from the University of Belgrade (1991-2004). Military Academy training completed in 1982.
Research Interests: Integrates philosophical inquiry with sociological analysis to explore the ethical dimensions of war, peacebuilding, and nonviolent doctrines. Specializes in historical military thought (ancient/modern), religious perspectives on warfare (Orthodox pacifism), and geopolitical conflict resolution strategies.
