Ilene Miele

Ilene Miele is a retired Lecturer in the Writing Program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. She specialized in advanced professional writing courses such as Writing for the Teaching Professions, Writing about Sustainability, and Creative Nonfiction. She also contributed to the ACE Program by teaching foundational writing courses (Writing 1 and 2) for Academic Communities of Excellence.

Her professional roles included serving as a TA supervisor and founding editor of Starting Lines, an annual publication showcasing student work. Over sixteen years, she developed outreach programs and school-university partnerships to enhance writing instruction in Ventura County's secondary schools. Her research interests focus on collaborative pedagogy, intersections between composition and creative writing methodologies, and innovative educational practices.
