Ilaria Testa

Ilaria Testa is an Associate Professor in Applied Physics at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, specializing in the development of advanced microscopy and spectroscopy techniques to study nanoscale biological dynamics. As a Wallenberg Scholar, she aims to create a groundbreaking microscope capable of capturing high-speed, high-precision movies of synaptic molecular processes during physiological activity.

Her research addresses the challenge of balancing precision and speed in observing rapid synaptic events, requiring specialized software, optical systems, and automated decision-making algorithms to outperform manual microscopy. This work bridges the gap between static imaging and dynamic visualization of protein interactions in brain synapses.
