Ike Okosun is a Professor at Georgia State University, School of Public Health, Department of Population Health Sciences. He holds a Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh and an M.P.H. in Biostatistics & Epidemiology from the University of Oklahoma.
His research investigates the epidemiology of metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and dyslipidemia in populations of African origin. Current work explores epigenetic markers underlying increased risk of high blood pressure and type 2 diabetes, examining interactions between environmental changes and DNA methylation patterns.
Publications demonstrate consistent focus on health disparities, metabolic disorders, and preventive interventions across diverse populations. Recent articles analyze pediatric metabolic risk factors, indigenous health behaviors, and clinical screening protocols.
