Ikaika Ramones is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Ethnic Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. A Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian) scholar from Kalihi, O‘ahu, he earned his BA in Social Anthropology from Harvard University and an MPhil/PhD in Anthropology from New York University. Prior to joining UC Berkeley, he served as an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at Princeton University.

Dr. Ramones' research focuses on the dialectics of indigeneity in Hawaiʻi and Oceania, examining intersections of political economy, critical theory, media studies, and social movements. His book manuscript, Red Dirt: Dialectics of Indigeneity (under contract with Princeton University Press), analyzes Native Hawaiian identity negotiation through elite institutions and grassroots movements.
