Ika Trijsburg is a prominent researcher and policy advisor with diverse roles across academia and public policy. She currently serves as the Director of Urban Analytics at the ANU Institute for Infrastructure in Society within the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University. Additionally, she holds the position of Head of Democracy and Diplomacy at the Municipal Association of Victoria, a Visiting Fellowship with the German Marshall Fund of the United States, and a Research Associate role with the Initiative for Peacebuilding at the University of Melbourne.
Her educational qualifications include a Master's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Graduate Certificate from Duke University.
Trijsburg's research centers on disinformation, democracy, diplomacy, local governance, and societal challenges. She possesses deep expertise in disinformation in urban settings, city-level diplomacy, collaborative governance for complex issues, and the dynamics of knowledge diversity and innovation. As the initiator and leader of the Disinformation in the City project across five Australian universities, she spearheaded the creation of the world's first Disinformation in the City Response Playbook in 2024, co-developed with 40 global experts from various sectors.
Her policy guidance has been sought by numerous international entities including city governments, national administrations, the G7 Rapid Response Mechanism, the Council of Europe, and UN-HABITAT, reflecting the global impact of her work on democratic resilience.
