Igor Ogashawara

Igor Ogashawara serves as a Researcher and Director of the GEO Aquawatch Cal/Val Thematic Node at the Leibniz Institute of Freshwater Ecology and Inland Fisheries (IGB) in Berlin. His work bridges satellite remote sensing technology with practical water quality monitoring for inland aquatic systems globally.

His research focuses on developing advanced algorithms for retrieving water quality parameters including chlorophyll-a, phycocyanin, and inherent optical properties from satellite data. Specializing in drought-impacted reservoirs and seasonally dynamic lake systems, he addresses critical challenges in cross-system algorithm validation and extreme event monitoring.
