Igor Khovanov is an Associate Professor in the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick. Prior to this, he held positions as a Humboldt Research Fellow at Humboldt University in Berlin and as an EPSRC Advanced Fellow at Lancaster University. His academic journey began with undergraduate and PhD studies at Saratov State University.
- Nonlinear Dynamics
- Fluctuation Theory
- Biomedical Engineering
- Semiconductor Physics
- Ion Channels
- Energy Harvesting
Khovanov's research bridges nonlinear dynamics and biomedical applications, focusing on fluctuation theory and its use in understanding stress dynamics in materials and modeling biological ion channels. His work explores noise-driven systems, conductivity in nanostructures, and energy harvesting from stochastic sources. He has led EPSRC-funded projects on ion channel dynamics and nonlinear phenomena in biological systems.
His recent publications highlight interdisciplinary themes, including the role of protonation states in KcsA inactivation, resonant electron transport in superlattices, and stochastic synchronization in ion channels. These studies span biophysics, condensed matter physics, and mechanical engineering, with subfields like molecular dynamics, signal processing, and quantum transport.
- EPSRC Advanced Fellowship
Khovanov's work integrates theoretical modeling with computational simulations, addressing challenges in ion permeation, glucose profile predictability, and nonlinear resonators. He serves on the faculty of the University of Warwick, contributing to research on noise-driven phenomena and their applications in both engineering and biological contexts.
