Research Interests: Dr. Koralnik investigates neurovirology, global neurology, and post-acute sequelae of viral infections. Key areas include Long COVID pathogenesis, JC virus in immunosuppressed populations, and cross-disciplinary virome analysis in neurodegenerative disorders. His clinical trials (e.g., STU00212583) explore immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 and predictors of long-term outcomes.
Publication Trends: Recent work spans Long COVID neurology (2025: retinal microvasculature, cognitive rehabilitation), JC virus genetics (2022: PML risk variants), and HIV-neurology intersections (2020s: seizures in Zambia, neurosyphilis). The Koralnik Lab employs virogenomic tools like Virofind for pathogen discovery.
