Igor Candido is an Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Italian at Trinity College Dublin. He holds dual doctoral degrees from Johns Hopkins University (USA) and the University of Turin (Italy). His research focuses on Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, and the Italian Renaissance, with particular emphasis on literary reception in America and the evolution of the novel. He has authored critical editions of Emerson's translation of Dante's Vita Nuova and a monograph on Boccaccio's engagement with Apuleius.
Education: Ph.D., Johns Hopkins University (2011); Dottorato di ricerca in Italianistica, University of Turin (2009).

Teaching Includes undergraduate courses on Dante, Petrarch, and Boccaccio, as well as postgraduate modules on Old Italian and Chaucer's connections to Italian literature. Current projects include a new commented edition of Petrarch's De vita solitaria.
