Ignacio Pisso

Ignacio Pisso is a Senior Scientist in the Atmosphere and Climate Department (ATMOS) at the Norwegian Institute for Air Research (NILU).

Education:

His research focuses on mathematical modeling of geophysical fluid transport and mixing, particularly atmospheric composition dynamics. He specializes in Lagrangian particle dispersion models (FLEXPART) for studying pollutant plumes, methane emissions, and black carbon transport.

Recent publications highlight advancements in turbulent dispersion modeling, methane emission quantification, and atmospheric tracer reconstructions. Projects include URGE-SIS (Norwegian Research Council 2017–2020), CHE (EU 2018–2020), and eSTICC (Nordforsk 2014–2019), with funding exceeding 50 million NOK/EUR.

Scientific Awards:

He contributes to climate policy frameworks through IG3IS best practices for greenhouse gas monitoring and offshore emission assessments. Collaborative work spans institutions including University of Paris 6, University of Cambridge, and JAMSTEC.
