Ignacio Guisandez Gonzalez

Ignacio Guisandez Gonzalez is an Associate Professor at the Polytechnic University of Madrid's School of Civil Engineering, specializing in hydroelectric programming and renewable energy systems within the Department of Civil Engineering: Hydraulics, Energy and Environment. After a seven-year industrial career managing civil projects worth €49 million, he transitioned to academia in 2010 to pursue a PhD in Civil Engineering Systems, which he completed cum laude in 2016 with international distinction. His research focuses on optimizing hydropower reservoir operations under environmental constraints and market dynamics, including work on reversible power plants.

His work has been recognized by the Polytechnic University of Madrid and the José Entrecanales Ibarra Foundation in 2018. Key research areas include energy market integration of hydropower, environmental flow requirements, and power plant ramping rate constraints.
