Iftikhar Haider

Iftikhar Haider serves as a writing consultant and academic advisor for MS/IM and MS Bioinformatics students at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's School of Information Sciences. He currently teaches BSIS Internship courses (both full-time and part-time tracks) and has been recognized as an excellent instructor by the iSchool in 2024. His work bridges ESL education, interlanguage pragmatics, and inclusive STEM education.

Education & Background: Completed a doctoral dissertation at UIUC in 2019, focusing on ESL pedagogy and assessment methodologies. His research emphasizes digital communication, computer-mediated pragmatics, and culturally responsive lesson design.

Key Contributions: Pioneered the Stem Play Area Project using household items for hands-on learning, developed UDL-based science curricula in Pakistan, and analyzed sociopragmatic dynamics on platforms like Twitter. His work spans linguistic assessment frameworks, digital literacy, and educational equity.
