Ifat Levy is an Assistant Professor of Comparative Medicine and Neurobiology at Yale School of Medicine, specializing in the neural basis of decision-making under uncertainty. Her research examines how different types of uncertainty affect valuation, choices, and their neural correlates across diverse populations.
Her academic credentials include:
- B.S. from Tel Aviv University (1994)
- L.L.B. from Tel Aviv University (1997)
- Ph.D. from Hebrew University of Jerusalem (2004)
Levy's work integrates computational neuroscience with behavioral studies, focusing on individual differences in uncertainty tolerance and their clinical implications. Her lab investigates risk-taking behavior in adolescents driven by ambiguity tolerance, decision-making trajectories from adolescence to older adulthood, and neural mechanisms underlying valuation processes. This research bridges cognitive neuroscience, behavioral economics, and clinical psychology.
She leads a laboratory within Yale's neuroscience community, which comprises over 135 faculty members across 20+ departments and commands more than half the university's biomedical research budget in 60,000+ square feet of dedicated laboratory space.
