Ieva Sumeja serves as a Visiting Lecturer in the Department of Early Music at the Jāzeps Vītols Latvian Academy of Music (JVLMA) since 2023, specializing in historical vocal performance practices. A soprano with international performance experience, she contributes to early music pedagogy within Latvia's premier music institution.
Her educational foundation includes a Master's degree in Early Music Singing from JVLMA, complemented by advanced studies at the Vienna University of Music and Performing Arts with Roberta Invernizzi and at Florence Conservatory under Professor Romina Basso.
Ms. Sumeja's artistic research focuses on authentic interpretation of baroque opera and vocal repertoire, emphasizing stylistic precision in works spanning the 17th-18th centuries. Her performance scholarship actively bridges historical research with contemporary stage practice through specialized vocal techniques.

She maintains significant artistic partnerships with conductor Māris Kupčas and leading European baroque ensembles including Collegium Musicum Riga, Capella Concertante Vilnense, Corelli Baroque Orchestra, and Capella Leopoldina. Her performance history encompasses major international festivals across Latvia, Austria, Estonia, and Lithuania, featuring in productions such as Lully's "Acis and Galatea" and Purcell's "Dido and Aeneas".
