Idun Hauge

Idun Hauge is Visiting Assistant Professor of History at Tulane University, specializing in modern Middle Eastern cultural and gender history. Her research examines Lebanon's tourism industry as a lens to analyze intersections of culture, heritage and gender politics in postcolonial capitalism.

Her doctoral dissertation at Georgetown University investigated how tourism development shaped Lebanese national identity and economic structures between 1943-1975. Her teaching emphasizes gender, visual culture, and ethical approaches to studying sectarianism.
