Ida Montgomery, DNP, APRN, FNP-BC, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Practice in the School of Nursing at the University of West Florida's College of Health. She specializes in teaching within the Family Nurse Practitioner Track and has 27 years of nursing experience, including 20 years as a family nurse practitioner. Her clinical expertise spans family practice, women’s health, acute care, and aviation medicine.

Dr. Montgomery’s research focuses on women’s health disparities, including female soldier hygiene in deployed settings, menstrual cycle suppression, HPV, and fertility issues. She has presented at professional conferences and served as a DNP Phase II Site Director, enhancing her teaching skills. A retired Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Army, she contributed to medical readiness, deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom, and earned numerous military awards and decorations.
Her career transition to academia stems from a passion for education, particularly in graduate medical education. She continues to advocate for healthcare equity and military healthcare excellence.
