Ida Johannessen

Ida Johannessen is a Senior Lecturer at the Laboratory School in Biology, University of Oslo. Her research focuses on gene regulation, epigenetics, and hybridization barriers in plants, particularly within the Arabidopsis genus. She contributes to teaching courses such as BIOS1110, MBV1010, and MBV4030.

Her work investigates post-zygotic hybridization barriers in plants using advanced molecular techniques like PCR, real-time PCR, and SNP analysis. She also explores the role of RNA-directed DNA methylation (RdDM) in regulating MADS box type I transcription factors.

Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding hybridization barriers in Arabidopsis species, including structural evidence for MADS-box gene family expansions (2023), temperature effects on hybrid barriers (2019), and endosperm-based hybridization mechanisms (2017). These studies span genetics, molecular biology, and evolutionary biology.
