Ida Bruheim-Escobar is an Associate Professor in Child Welfare at the University of Stavanger’s Faculty of Social Sciences, Department of Social Sciences. Her research focuses on child welfare, technology in healthcare and education, ethics in technology, early childhood development, and comparative social work. She holds a PhD from the University of Stavanger (2021), exploring social workers’ perspectives on children in Chile and Norway.
Research interests include the integration of technology in child welfare practices, family policy analysis, sensory engagement in early learning, and cross-cultural studies of child protection systems. She frequently collaborates with researchers in Norway, Chile, and internationally, addressing topics like olfactory engagement in education and ethical dilemmas in technological interventions.
Her work has been published in journals such as Nordic journal of health research, Scandinavian Journal of Caring Sciences, and Teaching in Higher Education. Recent projects examine welfare technology’s impact on family care dynamics and the ethical implications of technology in healthcare and social services.
Ida has presented at conferences such as the Nasjonal e-helsekonferanse (2023) and FORSA/NASSW (2023), discussing the future of care technologies and technological promises in child welfare. Her contributions bridge academic research and practical policy, aiming to enhance child-centered approaches in welfare systems globally.
