Ibukun Ogunade is an Assistant Professor of Livestock Production at the Division of Animal and Nutritional Science, West Virginia University. He holds a PhD in Ruminant Nutrition (2017) from the University of Florida, an MS (2011) and BS (2009) in Animal Nutrition from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Nigeria. Prior to joining WVU in 2020, he served as a Research Assistant Professor at Kentucky State University.
- BS, Animal Nutrition (2009)
- MS, Animal Nutrition (2011)
- PhD, Ruminant Nutrition (2017)
His research focuses on applying metabolomics and metagenomics to enhance ruminant production efficiency through nutritional interventions. Key areas include:
- Feed additives and microbiome interactions
- Feed efficiency biomarkers
- Dairy and beef cattle nutrition
- Immune response optimization
- Gastrointestinal tract metabolomics
- Gene expression in energy metabolism
His work has received grants from government and private agencies. He has published extensively on ruminal microbiome manipulation, feed efficiency, and health impacts of nutritional strategies in ruminants. Dr. Ogunade serves as an ad hoc reviewer for journals such as the Journal of Dairy Science, Animal Feed Science and Technology, and Scientific Reports, contributing to academic quality control in his field.
