Ian T. Lising

Prof. Ian T. Lising is an Associate Professor and Associate Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of La Verne. He holds a B.A. in Political Science from Ateneo de Manila University and an M.A. in Education from the University of La Verne. His career includes extensive experience in debate coaching and teaching, having led teams to international acclaim in competitions like the World Universities Debating Championships (WUDC). He served as World Debate Council Chair (2002–2008) and later as Chair Emeritus. His academic roles include teaching courses on rhetoric, public speaking, and argumentation, and he authored two influential books: *Across the House: The Art and Science of World Universities Championship Debating* (2010) and *The Spin Doctrine: Communicating Belief, Truth and Fact* (2019). His contributions to debate and communication education were recognized in 2017 as part of La Verne's sesquicentennial celebrations.
