Ian Pepper is Director of the WEST Center and a Professor at the University of Arizona. He holds dual appointments in the College of Public Health's Community, Environment, and Policy Department and the Department of Agricultural & Biosystems Engineering. His work focuses on environmental microbiology, pathogen behavior in air/water/soils/municipal wastes, and real-time contaminant detection in water systems.

His research spans environmental microbiology, pollution science, and water quality. He co-authored numerous books and journal articles while leading NSF Water Quality Center initiatives.
