Dr. Ian McKillop is a Professor at the University of Waterloo, holding a joint appointment in the School of Public Health Sciences and the Cheriton School of Computer Science. He serves as the JW Graham Chair in Health Information Systems, focusing on cybersecurity in mission-critical systems across finance, transport, and healthcare sectors. His roles include membership in the Cybersecurity and Privacy Institute and the CrySP group within Computer Science. Previously, he taught at a major business school and contributed to the Ontario Hospital Report, a large healthcare performance tracking system.
Education and career highlights include foundational work in accounting and finance at Waterloo, followed by a decade at a business school. His research integrates public health disaster planning with cybersecurity, exploring system resilience during crises like pandemics or cyberattacks.
