Ian M. Hartshorn is an Associate Professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Nevada, Reno. He holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania (2015), an M.A. from the same institution (2012), and a B.A. in Religion and Middle East Studies from Bucknell University (2007). His research focuses on labor politics under authoritarian and democratizing regimes, with special attention to trade unions, higher education, qualitative methods, and rentier economies. He co-authored Labor Politics in North Africa (Cambridge UP) and co-leads the Regimes and Political Parties Project (RPPP) with Dr. Allison Evans.
