Ian Johnson is the P. J. Moran Family Associate Professor of Military History at the University of Notre Dame, specializing in war, diplomacy, and technology. He holds a Ph.D. in History from Ohio State University and has held fellowships at Yale University and the Clements Center for National Security.

Recent publications highlight interwar technological espionage, Cold War security frameworks, and 20th-century military doctrine. Awards include the 2022 Society for Military History Distinguished Book Award and fellowships from Fulbright-Hays and the OSU Presidential Program.
