Ian Grimmer is a Senior Lecturer in History and Associate Dean of the Honors College at the University of Vermont. He holds a Ph.D. in modern European intellectual history from the University of Chicago (2010). His research focuses on 20th-century Germany, psychoanalysis history, and critical social theory, including a notable chapter in Germany 1916-23: A Revolution in Context about intellectuals in the 1918-19 German Revolution.
He previously directed the Integrated Humanities Program and was honored with UVM’s Kroepsch Maurice Award for Excellence in Teaching (2010). Grimmer is affiliated with both the Department of History and the Honors College, contributing administratively as Associate Dean.
