Dr. Ian Ellis is a Senior Lecturer in Dentistry at the University of Dundee’s School of Dentistry. He holds multiple safety roles including Unit Biological Safety Officer, School Radiological Safety Officer, and membership in numerous safety committees at the school, university, and NHS levels. His research focuses on tumor cell motility, extracellular matrix interactions, cytokine effects, and signal transduction pathways in cancer metastasis. He teaches Cell Biology and Developmental Biology modules in dental programs and supervises PhD, MRes, and BMSc students. Ellis has contributed to over 50 peer-reviewed publications and actively participates in research projects investigating oral cancer mechanisms and regenerative therapies.
His professional service includes roles as a UCU and DUCU Health and Safety Representative. Ellis has presented research at international conferences like the International Association of Dental Research and collaborates on projects such as studying mifepristone’s effects on oral cancer cells and Akt signaling pathways in metastasis.
