Iain Moyles is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at York University, Faculty of Science. His research focuses on mathematical modelling, asymptotic analysis, and scientific computing, with applications in battery technology, disease dynamics, soil science, and behavioral systems. He holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of British Columbia (2015), and completed postdoctoral work at the Mathematics Applications Consortium for Science and Industry (MACSI) at the University of Limerick (2015–2018).
Research Interests: Mathematical Modelling of Batteries, Disease Spread Mechanisms, Soil Biogeochemistry, and Behavioral Dynamics. Sub-disciplines include Scientific Computing and Asymptotic Methods.
Publications highlight contributions to epidemiological modeling (e.g., mpox, SARS-CoV-2), battery degradation, and soil phosphorus transport. His work has been published in journals such as Mathematical Biosciences, SIAM Journal on Applied Mathematics, and Scientific Reports.
Awards include supervision of students recognized with accolades like the CIRN Trainee Scholarship and Faculty of Science Excellence in Educational Leadership Award. Active in teaching applied mathematics courses, including Perturbation Methods and Mathematical Modelling.
Labs/Teams: Leads a research group with doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students focused on interdisciplinary projects in applied mathematics and computational science.
