Prof. Giampiero Iaffaldano is an Associate Professor at the Department of Chemical, Life and Environmental Sustainability Sciences at the University of Parma. He teaches courses in Earth Sciences, including GEODYNAMICS and EARTH PHYSICS, with a focus on environmental interactions between solid and fluid Earth systems.
His research spans geophysics, geodynamics, and earthquake science, with recent publications on mantle plumes, asthenosphere rheology, and microplate motion dynamics. His work explores seismic anisotropy, deep Earth processes, and tectonic responses to earthquakes.
His 2025 publications highlight topics such as Ghost plumes, asthenosphere flow partitioning, and Adria microplate kinematics, reflecting a strong emphasis on understanding Earth’s internal dynamics and tectonic behavior at various spatial and temporal scales.
