Hyo-Sung Ahn is a Professor at the School of Mechanical Engineering, Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST), Gwangju, Korea. He earned his B.S. and M.S. in astronomy from Yonsei University, Seoul, Korea (1998, 2000), followed by an M.S. in electrical engineering from the University of North Dakota (2003) and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Utah State University (2006).
His research focuses on Distributed Control, Aerospace Navigation and Control, Network Localization, and Learning Control. At GIST, he has contributed to understanding cooperative and anti-cooperative couplings in multi-topic opinion dynamics through inverse-proportional and proportional feedback models, leveraging Lyapunov analysis to predict consensus properties.
His 2018 seminar on Opinion dynamics on multiple interdependent topics highlighted applications of his work in modeling interdependent weighting matrices for agent-based systems. He previously worked as a Senior Researcher at the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute, Daejeon, Korea.
