Hussein Al-Ali is a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University (ARU), based in the Medical Technology Research Centre within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He specializes in cancer biology, molecular biology, and diagnostics, with a focus on novel anti-cancer therapies and circulating tumour cell detection. He holds roles as Deputy Course Leader for the MSc Applied Bioscience and a member of the Cancer Biology Research Group.
Research interests include cancer diagnostics, drug development, antibody design, cell cycle mechanisms, and flow cytometry applications. His work has been recognized with the 2024 Vice Chancellor’s award for advancing a novel anti-cancer antibody from 'bench to bedside'.
Teaching responsibilities include leading modules on Molecular Genetics and Bioinformatics, Undergraduate Projects, and Biomedical Science tutorials. He has secured multiple grants totaling over £400,000, collaborating with Innovate UK and pharmaceutical firms to evaluate anti-cancer treatments. His research also involves partnerships with institutions like Brunel University London.
