Husile Bai

Husile Bai is an Assistant Professor of the Practice in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at Vanderbilt University, within the College of Arts and Science. She holds a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences from the University of Utah (2022) and previously served as a postdoctoral research fellow there.

Her research centers on atmospheric and climate dynamics, with a focus on teleconnections, climate variability, and interactions between the cryosphere and atmosphere. She investigates how large-scale climate patterns influence ecological phenomena such as bird irruptions and forest seed masting, bridging atmospheric science with ecology. Her work employs advanced modeling and observational analyses to understand and predict climate impacts on natural systems.

Recent publications highlight her contributions to understanding the North American dipole, Atlantic-Pacific climate interactions, and ecological teleconnections. Her research has been published in high-impact journals including Environmental Research Letters, Science of The Total Environment, Journal of Climate, and npj Climate and Atmospheric Science, showing a consistent focus on climate dynamics and environmental impacts.

Husile is actively engaged in education, having taught at the University of Utah and Salt Lake Community College, and is committed to mentoring students and promoting diversity in science. She serves as the Postdoc Success Chair in the Utah Postdoctoral Association, demonstrating leadership in academic community building.

She is fluent in Mongolian, English, and Mandarin Chinese, enhancing her ability to collaborate across international and interdisciplinary contexts.
