Hur-li Lee

Dr. Hur-li Lee is an Associate Professor Emerita at the School of Information Studies, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her research focuses on classification theory, traditional Chinese bibliography, knowledge organization, and the social/cultural aspects of information services. She teaches graduate courses such as Organization of Information and Cataloging and Classification.

Education: PhD and MLS from Rutgers University; BA in Chinese Literature from National Taiwan University.

Her work explores the role of classification in scholarship and the intersection of cultural context with information systems, particularly in historical Chinese contexts. Recent publications analyze early Chinese library catalogs, classification systems, and cross-cultural knowledge organization methods.
