Dr. Hunter Johnson is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at John Jay College of Criminal Justice, City University of New York. He holds a PhD in Mathematical Logic from the University of Maryland, College Park (2008) and a BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, and Philosophy from Beloit College (2000). His research focuses on combinatorial model theory, particularly VC density and dp-rank, with applications to machine learning theory and bioinformatics. He teaches courses such as Calculus, Cryptography, and Machine Learning.
His work includes student-assisted projects on gesture recognition using the Microsoft Kinect and forensic microbiome analysis. Dr. Johnson regularly contributes to the CUNY Math Blog, exploring topics like mathematical philosophy and pedagogy.
