Hung-Wei Yen

Prof. Hung-Wei Yen is an Associate Professor in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at National Taiwan University, specializing in alloy design and microstructure physics. His research integrates thermodynamic phase diagram calculations, phase transformation theory, and advanced electron microscopy to manipulate alloy microstructures and defects for high-performance lightweight materials.

In 2019, he pioneered a machine learning framework called βLow, which predicted novel low-modulus β titanium alloys (e.g., Ti-12Nb-12Zr-12Sn) with applications in orthopedic and prosthetic implants. This work highlights the synergy between computational methods and experimental validation in materials discovery.
