Hulya Kirkici is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of South Alabama, where she has served as Chair since 2016. Previously, she was a Professor at Auburn University from 1992 to 2016.
- Education: B.S. and M.S. in Physics from Middle East Technical University (1981, 1984), Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from New York University (2009).
Her research focuses on electrical insulation in aerospace systems, pulsed power engineering, and dielectric materials under extreme conditions. She investigates high-frequency switching, repetitive pulsed power systems, and breakdown mechanisms in nano/micro-dielectrics and biodielectrics. Additional work includes compact plasma switches, vacuum electronics using carbon nanotubes (CNTs), and laser/beaming systems design.
Recent publications analyze power transformers, CNT-triggered pseudospark switches, and beam shaping techniques, spanning electrical engineering, nanotechnology, and optical physics. Her work integrates temporal/spatial diagnostics and advanced materials for aerospace and high-voltage applications.
