Hui Wang is a Professor in the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Queen's University Belfast, part of the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences. He leads research in machine learning, knowledge representation, and their applications in image, video, spectra, and text data analysis. His work includes developing frameworks like the Lattice Machine and Contextual Probability, with current focuses on detection learning and causal learning.
Research Interests: Machine learning (detection learning, causal learning), knowledge representation, spectral data analytics, medical imaging, and applications in food authentication, virus detection, and drug repurposing. His interdisciplinary approach bridges foundational theory and real-world applications, including partnerships with industry and government.
Grants & Projects: Principal investigator of £5.2M in projects such as EPSRC-funded MVSE (video analytics), VIPIRS (virus detection via spectral methods), and Horizon 2020 initiatives. Collaborates on EU projects like DESIREE and SAVASA, totaling £13M in co-investigations.
