Hugues BENOIT-CATTIN

Hugues BENOIT-CATTIN is a Professor at INSA Lyon serving as Vice President for Innovation since October 2014 and Director of the University of Lyon's Innovation Factory project since March 2015, which mobilizes over 20 million euros for cross-sector innovation. Previously, he directed INSA Lyon's Telecommunications Department for six years where he established an apprenticeship curriculum.

Education:

• Engineering degree, INSA Lyon (1992)
• PhD in Signal, Image, and Speech Processing, INSA Lyon (1995) focusing on wavelet-based medical image compression

Research Interests: His work centers on Medical Imaging with specialization in MRI techniques (simulation, correction, molecular imaging), image segmentation using deep learning and mean shift approaches, and distributed computing systems for intensive processing. As deputy director of the CNRS/Inserm CREATIS laboratory since 2015, he bridges engineering and medical research.

Publications: His 90+ publications (24 journal papers, 62 conference papers, 4 book chapters) demonstrate consistent focus on medical image analysis with increasing integration of deep learning methods in recent years.

Advising & Leadership: He has supervised numerous interns and apprentices while developing INSA Lyon's international relations with Singaporean universities over 20 years. His innovation leadership extends to serving on INSAVALOR's Supervisory Board and Cluster I-Care's Board since 2017.

Labs & Initiatives: He co-directs the CREATIS laboratory and spearheads the Innovation Factory project to catalyze university-business collaboration across the University of Lyon ecosystem.
